This Huntington native, while serving as a 2nd lieutenant with the 711th heavy Bombing Squadron, was severely wounded over Merseburg, Germany, on 2 November 1944, but continued to fly his crew for over two hours to Great Britain. He died shortly after being removed from the plane.
