This Mason City (Mason County) native, while serving as a sergeant with the 4th West Virginia Infantry, assaulted the Confederate works at Vicksburg, Mississippi, 22 May 1863.
He was born in Mason County in 1837, moved to Indiana some time in the 1870s, and died in Liberty Center, Indiana, in 1911.
