Entering the service at Mason City (Mason County), this private with the 4th West Virginia Infantry stormed a Confederate stronghold at Vicksburg, Mississippi, on 22 May 1863.
He was born in Jackson County in 1840, moved to Mason County and was a farmer after the war. He died in Columbus, Ohio, in 1919.
