Traveller’s Rest is a historic limestone house in Jefferson County once owned by Revolutionary War General Horatio Gates.
The house was originally built in the 1770s and later expanded. It is one of the few known works by architect John Ariss. Today, it is recognized for its early American architecture and historical importance. It is privately owned and not open to the public.
