At this large prehistoric site near the Ohio River north of Huntington, archeologists have uncovered evidence of human occupation dating from 9,000 years ago up to a village from about 1550–1600 AD, just before Europeans arrived in the area. Archeologists have found thousands of artifacts there, including pottery, tools, beads, fish hooks, and ornaments made from bone, shell, copper, and brass.

Some artifacts show that the people at Clover traded goods with groups in what is now eastern Tennessee. Many artifacts from the site are now kept at the Huntington Museum of Art.
