This Monongalia County native studied art at West Virginia University and later in New York City and Paris. Lazzell was one of the first American artists to use Cubism and helped start the Provincetown Printers, known for color block prints. During the Great Depression, she made wood-block prints and a mural for Morgantown’s courthouse.
