This Huntington native was an important abstract painter who taught art at Marshall University for 30 years and inspired many others. Her paintings were emotional and spiritual, even though they were abstract—they didn’t show real people or things. Kilgore’s work is in important collections, including those of Senator Jay Rockefeller and a university in Brazil. She had exhibits in West Virginia and New York and won numerous awards.
