Barger Springs was once a popular mineral spring resort located on the Big Bend of the Greenbrier River (Summers County). Before the Civil War, the original owner built log cabins and a store for hunters and trappers. In 1903, investors bought the property, built a new pavilion over the spring, and renamed the area Greenbrier Springs. They also built a three-story wooden hotel, which opened in 1906.

The resort was a favorite spot for local people, offering swimming, fishing, and outdoor fun. The hotel closed in 1929 and was later torn down. Today, many private cottages sit on the former resort grounds.
