The Lady Bobcats of Summers County High School set a West Virginia state basketball record by winning 105 games in a row—more than any boys or girls team. Their streak started in 2008 and ended in 2012 with a loss to Scott High School.

The team broke the previous record of 88 wins in 2011. Hinton High School, which was merged into Summers County High, had previously won multiple state titles, as well. From 1988 to 2011, the Lady Bobcats made 21 state tournament appearances.

Under coach Wayne Ryan, they played fast-paced offense and tough full-court defense, a style taught from middle school.
