Hazlett fought alongside Aaron D. Stevens in the U.S. Arsenal during John Brown’s raid and escaped capture, but was arrested days later near Carlisle, Pennsylvania, on October 22. He was tried and convicted in Charles Town. Both Hazlett and Stevens were executed on March 16, 1860.
