Oliver Brown, John Brown’s 20-year-old son, was the youngest of three brothers who joined their father in the Harpers Ferry raid. He was badly wounded inside the engine house on October 17 and died next to his father the next morning. His mother said he was the most like his father and loved learning. He was originally buried in an unmarked grave near Harpers Ferry but was reburied in 1899 in North Elba, New York.
