Steamboat Virginia aground in a Jackson County cornfield
On Sunday, March 13, 1910, the packet boat Tacoma ran a special charter from Gallipolis and Point Pleasant to the farm in Willow Grove where the Virginia was beached. Some 300 excursionists viewed the spectacle, while the captain of the Tacoma, Jesse Hughes, took this photo from his pilothouse 700 feet away.
