The Lilly Brothers were early bluegrass musicians from Clear Creek (Raleigh County). Bea and Everett Lilly began playing music as teenagers and performed on radio stations in West Virginia and other states.
From the 1950s to 1970, they were especially important in Boston, where they helped introduce bluegrass music to New England audiences. They recorded many albums and often played with banjoist Don Stover.
The Lilly Brothers later performed mostly at festivals and on special tours. They were honored by being inducted into both the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Honor and the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame.
