This Clarksburg native began playing music as a child and appeared on radio at age six. He gained national attention with the 1965 hit “Head Shrinker” and later worked with artists such as Del Shannon and the New Christy Minstrels.

Nutter also acted in TV shows including Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and Hawkins, and narrated Disney documentaries. His song “Simpson Creek” is considered an early environmental-themed country recording. He was inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame in 2020.
