West Virginia women played a big role in supporting the military by selling war bonds. The West Virginia Farm Women’s Club alone sold $288,997 in bonds and raised $15,464 for the Red Cross. Workers from Wheeling Steel (pictured) performed shows across the state to raise enough money to buy a bomber plane for the war effort.
