Barbra Dorothy Mayor (Thompson) is born in Grays Landing, PA.

1935

Dorothy and the Mayor family move from Scotts Run to Arthurdale, WV, as part of the first federal resettlement program during the New Deal.

May 27, 1939

First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt presents Dorothy Mayor and the other 1939 graduates of Arthurdale High School with their diplomas.

Apr 13, 1942

Dorothy Mayor and Ben Thompson are married in Reedsville, WV, and move to Canaan Valley in Tucker County.

1962

Dorothy Thompson begins teaching weaving the the Cosner School in Tucker County through the board of education's Adult Education program.

May, 2000

Dorothy Thompson is selected as a National Heritage Fellow, the United States' highest honor in folk and traditional arts.

Oct 01, 2008

Dorothy Thompson dies in Canaan Valley, WV, at age 88.
