Marietta Manufacturing Company


1852

Marietta Manufacturing's predecessor, W. F. Robertson & Company, opened in Beverly, OH.

1881

After a fire at the Beverly site, W. F. Robertson relocated to Marietta, OH, and became Marietta Manufacturing Company in 1892.

Mar 28, 1913

The Great Easter Flood of 1913 damaged the company's Marietta plant, prompting its leaders to look for a new location.

1944

Marietta Manufacturing Company received the Army-Navy "E" Award for ranking among the top three percent of war-production plants in the nation.

An explosion on a gasoline barge killed six Marietta Manufacturing workers.

Feb, 1970

Marietta Manufacturing Company closed its operations.

1972

Amherst Industries reopened the former Marietta Manufacturing facilities as Point Pleasant Marine.

1984

Point Pleasant Marine closed due to labor difficulties.
