  • 1861 flood in the Kanawha Valley

    Kanawha Valley was hit by its worst flood

  • Flood of 1878

    A hurricane brought heavy rains to the state. Flooding occurred on the New, Greenbrier, Gauley, and Kanawha rivers.

  • Flood of 1985

    A late season tropical storm, followed by a southeastern storm, resulted in heavy rainfall over much of the state.
