Caption: Point Pleasant was built on a mostly flat arrowhead-shaped piece of land where the Kanawha River meets the Ohio and so over the years was regularly flooded by high water. Here, a man rows through the 1937 floodwaters at 12th and Viand Streets in a scene that was all too familiar to Point Pleasant residents.
