Series Title The Great Textbook Controversy

Transcript

Reverend Marvin Horan: Wonder what the board of education thinks about this demonstration? The board of education don’t care how long you march, as long as you go back to school. Now the thing we have to do is to stay out of school until the books are gone. We must stay out of school.

Everybody that’s marched in this parade today, if you don’t stay out of school, your march was in vain. We must close the schools.
As for me and my house, I don’t go back to work. Neither do my children go to school until the books are taken out. The books must go. We can win if we’ll stay out of these schools.

Let me point out something to you. ..

The majority – the majority of the board of education has thrown our county into chaos. It’s not you people. It’s the board of education that’s done it. Let them bear the brunt of their own burdens. You keep your children home. Be good to your children, keep them home. Be good to them. Send them to school and it will only ruin them. Let’s keep them out until we win.
