Searching e-WV Web Site Content

On the left side of every e-WV Web site page, there is a “What are you looking for?” search box. A user can type a keyword, partial title, or other search criteria into this search box in order to be directed to the “Search Results” page. The “Search Results” page will display the first five results matching the search criteria for certain types of content (i.e., Articles, Media Files, Opinion Polls, Exhibits, etc.), and also give the user the option to view more results if applicable.

From the “Search Results” page the user can click on a result to be directed to the page containing that result. For example, if the user’s results contained a lot of articles, the user could click on the article title to be directed to the article’s page.

Underneath the search box on most pages of the e-WV Web site are a few other options that include being directed to a random article, or browsing articles according to an established encyclopedia category. To be directed to a random article, the user should click on the View a Random Article option. To browse articles and other content by category the user can click one of the category options listed underneath the “Browse Encyclopedia by Category” heading. Clicking on a category option will take the user to a page with a listing of the articles or other content items that are associated to that category.
