These earthworks did exist. My mother grew up on a farm near this site. In the 1930s and ’40s parts of the prehistoric earthworks were still visible. At one time there was a historical sign on Route 2 near this location. There is at least one small mound remaining on the old O.T. Smith property now owned by Momentive Chemical. At one time there were several mounds in this area.
