Thank you for providing statistics that show the real sentiments of West Virginians. After the War, Northern presses made the South look as bad as possible and minimized the statistics to support the story.

In Mark Snell’s new book, West Virginia and the Civil War, the actual estimate of soldiers is 20,000 to 22,000 each for the Confederacy and the Union, so West Virginia was the only border state that did not send the majority of its soldiers to the Union.
