    Be sure to save the date of July 26 for the first annual Lewisburg Music Festival, to be held on the lawns of Carnegie Hall and New River Community and Technical College. Sponsored by Carnegie Hall, this festival will feature multiple acts in the “roots” and “Americana” style. Food and beverage vendors will be there ready to keep you nourished as you spend the day listening to great music with your friends and family.

    Nestled in the Allegheny Mountains, Carnegie Hall is one of only four Carnegie’s in the world. Since 1983, Carnegie Hall, Lewisburg has operated as a regional center for the visual and performing arts.

  • Lewisburg Chocolate Festival

    April 13, 2019 — Lewisburg, Greenbrier

    The 13th Annual Lewisburg Chocolate Festival will take place on Saturday, April 13 from 11am – 4pm in downtown Lewisburg, WV. Come out and enjoy thousands of chocolate-themed treats, live music, professional chef demonstrations, free screenings of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, a photo booth, balloon animals, magic shows, and more! All events are free and open to the public. The only cost associated with the festival are tastings – tickets are sold in packets of 5 for $5 and can be purchased in advance at the Visitors Center in downtown Lewisburg or online at LewisburgChocolateFestival.com. Tickets go on sale February 11. Proceeds from the 13th Annual Lewisburg Chocolate Festival benefit United Way of the Greenbrier Valley.

    This critically acclaimed female a cappella quintet from Zimbabwe has drawn international acclaim for its inventive performances that range from traditional Zimbabwean songs to Afro Jazz to Gospel. The ensemble’s concerts are performed with pure voices, augmented by minimalistic percussion, traditional instruments such as the Mbira (thumb piano), and organic, authentic dance movements.

    Join Doug Van Gundy and Annie Stroud. 2018 Master Artist and Apprentices as part of the West Virginia Folklife Program, as they explore the old-time fiddling traditions of Eastern WV.

    Doug Van Gundy of Elkins leads an apprenticeship on old-time fiddling with apprentice Annie Stroud of Charleston. Van Gundy, an eighth-generation West Virginian, apprenticed with fiddler Mose Coffman through the 1993 Augusta Heritage Apprenticeship Program and plays with his group Born Old. Stroud is a Greenbrier County native and fiddle player for the Allegheny Hellbenders.

    This Folklife Apprenticeship is supported by the West Virginia Folklife Program, a project of the West Virginia Humanities Council, and the National Endownment for the Arts.     A World Premiere play with music that celebrates and chronicles the life of Ada “Bricktop” Smith. Born in Alderson, WV, Bricktop, a singer and dancer, rose to fame as a nightclub owner during the Jazz Age. She opened Chez Bricktop’s in Paris in 1926, eventually became the darling of Paris nightlife and was nicknamed the “Doyenne of Café Society.”
