The 14th annual Wirt County Pioneer Day will be Saturday, October 1 at the Wirt County Courthouse Square in downtown Elizabeth. The Elizabeth Beauchamp Chapter Daughters of American Pioneers organizes the annual heritage event. Saturday’s activities will include vendor tents and activities, including basket making, blacksmithing and apple butter stirring, along with a variety of food and crafts for sale. On Sunday, a Civil War battle re-enactment will take place at 2 p.m. at Viller’s Field on West Virginia 5 at Elizabeth.
