Does something not work the way you expect it? Do you have a suggestion for making the site work more smoothly? We’re happy to discuss these.

I’m using a Toshiba laptop running Windows 10 and viewing in Google Chrome. Couple issues:
1) I have an old photo or two that would compliment some articles. Tried to find out how to add or link them to a particular article or contact the author to see if they want the photo so they can add it. Can’t find any how-to info on this subject.
2) If I were looking to update, add additional reference to, or report an error in an article, I found the FAQ instructs “go to the My WV tab and click on the Suggest Updates for Existing Content option”, but I’m not seeing any “Suggest Updates for Existing Content” option.

Thanks for your post.
1. Since e-WV is not like Wikipedia, visitors can’t just add content to articles. All of our articles represent scholarly research, with writers contracted to develop the article, so any updates or additions to those articles also require approval from the editorial team. That said, if you have a photograph or something you think would be useful, or if you wish to contact an author, you can email me at keller@wvhumanities.org.
2. You’re right! At some point we removed the “Suggest Updates for Existing Content” option because you can now leave a comment using the link at the foot of the article (when you’re logged in). But even if you use the “Suggest Brand New Content” form, if you say it’s for an existing article, we’ll get a look at it. We receive an alert every time a comment is left, and new content and new event suggestions come straight to me. So don’t worry, we won’t overlook your input.
Thanks for writing. I need to fix the FAQ!

Back to #2 above, I’m not seeing a comment section at the foot of the exhibit I wanted to comment on. I am logged in. Maybe you can fix it from my description here. The problem I’m seeing is in the “Coal Miners & Coal Camps” Exhibit. It’s a great exhibit with great quality photos; but, however consistent it may be, there is no town in WV known as Caples. It is mis-spelled Caples throughout the exhibit. The correct spelling of the McDowell County town is Capels, as documented in this Wikipedia article. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capels,_West_Virginia

We haven’t enabled comments on exhibits. However, you are right, the town is properly spelled Capels. The “Caples” came from the descriptions of the photographs in the Library of Congress, probably written by the photographer herself, Marion Post Wolcott. It appears in the LoC that the images are listed both ways, so searching on “Capels” at the LoC will work, too.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention!
