It is often stated that Zackquill was with Gates at Saratoga. However this is simply not possible. His whereabouts are well documented as being in the Monongahela valley area in the autumn of 1777, and he had his hands full dealing with a Tory conspiracy at that time. The portrait accompanying this article also is very likely of a member of the Madera family, and not Zackquill Morgan, though it is often misinterpreted as such.
