The Belle plant produced nylon in liquid form. Approximately 50 percent was water, and it was shipped by rail in tank cars to the yarn spinning plants. The water was evaporated and the polymer forced through discs with small holes to form the threads which were used to make the nylon cloth. The Belle plant did not produce the finished nylon, as might be the impression some may have.
