A book by David E. Johnston was cited for this article. His former home in Princeton was razed on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, after numerous attempts by the Mercer County Historical Society to purchase the property. The loss of one of the two houses spared when Princeton was burned by the Confederate troops on May 1, 1862, was really sad day for Mercer County.
