SharePrint Alash Ensemble - Music from Tuva

September 22, 2016

Institute, Kanawha

Traditional Tuvan music was created to unite the human spirit with the spirits of nature. Exercising complex control of the vocal tract, Tuvan throat singers imitate multiple nature sounds simultaneously, from low guttural growling to high-pitched chirps, making unique, often haunting, harmonic music. This FREE, educational performance includes Q & A and discussion.

Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy. 4:00 PM September 22 at Ferrell Hall, West Virginia State University in Institute.

WVSU students under the direction of Dr. Dirk Johnson will perform a song using this ancient, difficult, vocal technique. The final ten minutes will allow questions and answers. Contact Dr. Dirk Johnson (304) 766-3342 or Richard Wolfe (304) 766-3188 https://www.facebook.com/events/576518475864511/
